SOLOPROTECT® 90° rounded corners: concave and convex

Ensuring continuous protection around building corners

Industrial protective barriers do not always follow a straight line. Facades, loading bays, technical areas, machinery or internal walkways frequently require changes of direction.

To ensure the continuity of a run whilst avoiding an abrupt 90° break, SOLOPROTECT® offers two specific corner fittings:

  • smoothed 90° convex corner – ref. A-01089;
  • smoothed 90° concave corner – ref. A-01090.

These components enable two horizontal rails to be joined, forming a rounded angle that is better suited to the constraints of industrial and logistics environments.

Rounded 90° convex corner

For use with outward-facing building corners

Therounded 90° convex corner is designed to accommodate outward-facing corners, for example on the outside of a building, a loading bay, a plant room or a piece of equipment.

Its geometry allows the protection to follow the curve of the corner whilst maintaining continuity between the two rails.

Rather than a sudden change of direction, the component follows the line of the rail in a rounded shape.

Typical applications

The convex corner is particularly suitable for:

  • protecting an external building corner;
  • wrapping round a loading bay or structure;
  • protecting a façade exposed to vehicle traffic;
  • ensuring the continuity of protection around a piece of equipment;
  • handling a change of direction on an internal route;
  • creating continuous perimeter protection.

Smoothened concave 90° corner

For handling internal corners and internal bends

Thesmoothened concave 90° corner is designed for internal corners, i.e. where the guardrail must follow an internal bend in a building or technical area.

It allows two rails to be joined at 90° whilst maintaining continuous protection on the inside of the corner.

This configuration is particularly suitable when the protection follows the geometry of a wall, an alcove, a room or a piece of equipment.

Typical applications

The concave corner can be used, in particular, to:

  • handle an internal building corner;
  • follow a return along a façade;
  • protect a recessed technical area;
  • work around a complex architectural layout;
  • maintain the continuity of protection around a machine or piece of equipment;
  • adapt the run to the actual geometry of the site.

Concave or convex: how to choose?

The choice simply depends on the direction of the angle to be handled.

Choose the convex corner if:

  • the protection goes round an outward-facing corner;
  • the run of the system goes round an external corner;
  • you are protecting the end of a façade or a loading bay.

Choose the concave corner if:

  • the protection follows an inward-facing corner;
  • the run of the system curves inwards;
  • you are protecting a wall return or a recessed area.

In practice:

outward-facing corner = convex

inward-facing corner = concave

A cleaner, more seamless line of protection

Using a rounded corner avoids an awkward juxtaposition of two straight rails at a 90° angle.

It provides:

SOLOPROTECT® rounded corners are made from S235 steel and protected by hot-dip galvanising in accordance with ISO 1461.

This approach allows the guardrail system to be adapted to the site’s actual geometry.
