SOLOPROTECT® C100 Posts: Embedded or Base-Plated
Two installation solutions to suit the existing civil engineering structure
Choosing the right post is an essential part of designing a SOLOPROTECT® industrial protection system.
Depending on the site configuration, ground conditions and whether an existing concrete structure is available, C100 steel posts can be installed according to two main principles:
-
C100 post embedded or driven into a concrete foundation;
-
C100 base-plated post, mechanically or chemically anchored.
Both configurations make it possible to adapt the protection system to the actual installation constraints while maintaining a robust, simple and modular design.
C100 post embedded in a concrete foundation
The embedded C100 post is intended for configurations where a concrete foundation can be created or where the post can be installed directly into the ground structure.
The profile is integrated directly into the civil engineering structure in order to create a permanent connection with the ground.
This configuration is particularly suitable for:
-
new installations;
-
areas without an existing concrete slab;
-
permanent protection systems;
-
installations requiring a simple and robust solution;
-
industrial and logistics areas subject to regular operational loads.
The choice between 1.50 m and 2.00 m posts depends in particular on the required above-ground height, embedment depth and the characteristics of the concrete foundation.
C100 base-plated post - 700 mm height
When the site already has a concrete slab, ground beam or sufficiently dimensioned concrete foundation, the C100 post can be installed on a steel base plate.
This solution avoids the need for deep embedment of the post and facilitates installation onto an existing concrete structure.
The base plate is fixed to the concrete using mechanical or chemical anchors, selected according to the characteristics of the supporting structure and the loads to be transferred.
Which C100 post should you choose?
The choice primarily depends on the existing civil engineering structure.
No existing concrete slab or foundation
Choose the embedded C100 post.
The post is installed directly into a concrete foundation specifically created for the protection system.
Typical application: permanent embedded installation.
Existing concrete slab, ground beam or foundation
The base-plated C100 post is generally the most suitable solution.
The base plate allows the post to be fixed directly onto the existing concrete structure using mechanical or chemical anchors.
Typical application: permanent installation on existing concrete.
The post: a key structural component of the protection system
Within a SOLOPROTECT® installation, the post provides the connection between the horizontal protection rails and the civil engineering structure.
Its selection must therefore take into account:
-
the rail configuration;
-
the required protection height;
-
the spacing between posts;
-
the geometry of the protection line;
-
the type of ground or concrete structure;
-
exposure to vehicles and material-handling equipment;
-
available anchoring options;
-
edge distances and concrete joints;
-
site operating constraints.
Correct post selection contributes to creating a protection system that is consistent with the industrial environment in which it is installed.
Galvanised steel for industrial environments
SOLOPROTECT® C100 posts are manufactured from S235 steel and protected by hot-dip galvanising in accordance with ISO 1461.
This anti-corrosion treatment is particularly suitable for steel equipment installed in:
-
warehouses;
-
logistics platforms;
-
industrial sites;
-
car parks;
-
technical infrastructure;
-
outdoor installations.
It contributes to the long-term durability of the system in environments exposed to operational and atmospheric constraints.
Modular design with SOLOPROTECT® rails
C100 posts are designed to be combined with other components from the SOLOPROTECT® range, including:
straight horizontal rails + curved horizontal rails + C100 posts + connection components + bolting.
This modularity makes it possible to create anything from a simple straight protection line to a system following the contours of a building, equipment item or traffic area.
Base-plate anchoring: verification is essential
The anchor dimensions and characteristics indicated are general configuration guidelines.
The final anchoring design must be adapted in particular to:
-
the concrete strength class and condition;
-
concrete thickness;
-
edge distances;
-
spacing between anchors;
-
the type of mechanical or chemical anchor used;
-
the actual loads applied to the system.
Compatibility between the protection system, anchors and civil engineering structure must be verified for each specific installation.
SOLOSAR helps you define the right installation method
Based on a layout drawing, dimensioned sketch or photographs of the site, our teams can help determine the most suitable installation principle:
embedded post or base-plated post.
To facilitate the assessment, please provide where possible:
-
the total length to be protected;
-
the required protection height;
-
the type of ground;
-
details of the existing concrete slab or foundation;
-
available dimensions;
-
the possible presence of underground services;
-
photographs of the installation area.
